Ruth

Here's another American Colortype Company.  This one has 1 uncut doll, 1 uncut outfit, and 2 cut outfits (missing hats).  The doll is 605-Ruth.  The coat is 837- Skating Girl.  The blue dress is 831- Afternoon Dress, and the kimono is 876- Geisha Girl.  Mary Young's 20th Century Paper Dolls book is great to help identify these.

New Round About Dolls

This is not a complete set but a partial set.  The New Round About Doll Book (#559) was published McLoughlin in 1939. The artist is Betty Campbell (who did many round about books).  This is only 6 out of the 14 dolls and only 6 dresses.  Back in school, so my schedule is super busy.

Favorite Historical Period

Can you believe this month is almost over?!  I certainly can't!  For the month of August, the theme for the collaboration project was favorite historical period. My first thought is... none... but of course, you have to choose.  I thought of the 1920s and 1950s but I choose Rococo.  Rococo is a French artistic movement from 18th century. according to Wikipedia "usually covers the kind of ornament, style and design associated with Louis XV's reign and the beginning of that of Louis XVI"  Big dresses with lots of layers and bows and lace and hair up to the sky!  I imagine this in a soft pink or maybe muted gold? The rococo period has such an opulence and lovely details, so that's why I choose it as my favorite.

Barbie Christmas Charm

This may be one of my favorite Barbie paper dolls ever.  This four page magazine doll is from the Barbie Bazaar Magazine December Issue 1988 (Year and month I was born).  This paper doll is beautiful rendered by Barb Rausch.  Barb Rausch drew the Barbie comic books as well.  The pages include a very classic Barbie and her little sister Skipper along with 3 outfits for skipper and 4 outfits for barbie.  Also an adorably tiny barbie doll with 4 classic outfits.  Most of the outfits feature red and pink colors, all are labeled with the number of the outfit, except the Santa costume, which is not a real Barbie dress, but thrown in for fun (very Katy Keene).  The pages are decorated with extra presents and fun Christmas ornament edge.  I've already started seeing whispers of Christmas in stores, so I decided to share this early.

New Dressing Dolls

I don't know much about these two dolls. They appear very similar to Samuel Gabriel Sons My dolly Series but aren't quite the same.  The most notable difference is the doll has bows on her dress. Also I believe these are much smaller These are also marked "Comfort" Augusta, ME and may have been used for advertisement.   I have 2 dolls, (the boy is pretty beat up) along with 2 envelopes.  The boy only has one blue outfit with a hat, (uncut) and the girl has 3 outfits, 1 green 1 pink, and 1 blue.  I have 3 matching hats, and 1 extra pink which suggest there was another pink outfit.  i found this auction picture, that seems to be similar and mentions the envelope as well https://www.theriaults.com/node/25731

If anyone has additional information, please let me know.

It's been a week since I last posted!  Hopefully fall classes won't be as crazy busy as summer. And these photos are from more then a year ago!  But since the current convention is going on now, I thought I'd finally dump them here.  Also I have more on a camera that won't connect to my computer, so I'll try to post those if I can.  As you can see, my photos are blurry! This is my phone's camera, which is not very good.  If you see you're item in the show and share, let me know and i'll label it.

Maurice Chevalier

This newspaper Dressograph features the actor Maurice Chevalier.  Some of his outfits are separated into two parts.  He has three outfits and a hat.  These are from the movies "Innocents of Paris", "The Smiling Lieutenant" and "Playboy of Paris".  This page has a very yellow tint to the paper from age.
